A publication with a savings habit
Penny Heron began in 2024 as a two-person spreadsheet project: we wanted to know which budgeting apps genuinely helped ordinary households save, and which ones just looked helpful. Two years later we test every major AI budgeting tool on the market with the same ritual — two weeks of real transactions, one shared household budget, and a written savings diary.
We accept no sponsorships from app makers, we buy every subscription we test, and we publish our testing notes. Slow money journalism, on purpose.
